New grant to increase access to quality-assured maternal health medicines in Ethiopia

Concept Foundation is pleased to announce that over the coming year it will be working to address maternal health supply gaps in Ethiopia, with a new grant from the RHSC Innovation Fund.

It has been made clear through recent regional workshops that countries are not always aware of prequalified products and that some generic pharmaceutical companies lack specific knowledge of registration procedures, tender processes and supplying to lower- and middle-income countries (LMICs). As a neutral and independent party, Concept aims to accelerate access to WHO-prequalified maternal health medicines in Ethiopia by bridging the information gap between manufacturers and registration/procurement bodies.

This project will build on Concept’s previous work of expanding the choice of quality-assured reproductive health products, focusing on three essential life-saving maternal health medicines: oxytocin, misoprostol and magnesium sulphate.
